I suck at trying to take over the world

Last night I lost the battle of world domination. I made my presence known in Europe and tried to trot through Asia when I was taken over by North America, Australia and Africa. I can't even say it was a hard fought battle because it wasn't. Maybe if, when I rolled a dice I would roll higher than a two I might have had a shot in hell of winning Risk, but ultimately it was Chris who took over the world in a small bar in a strip mall in Edina Minnesota. Unknown to most people, there is a Chatterbox in Edina. Chatterbox is a pretty cool bar filled with cheese 70s decor and board games and old Nintendo, Atari and Segas. Not only can you sit there and play almost any board game you can think of they also brew their own beer which isn't half bad. Not bad for a random Saturday night. Here is a photo of Chris kicking our butt. (and a photo of Jada loving life:)

The Fitz

Not much of a happy anniversary, but an anniversary nonetheless. Today, in 1975 the Edmund Fitzgerald sank. Here is a little history that I got from the Fitz wiki page:

SS Edmund Fitzgerald (nicknamed "Mighty Fitz," "The Fitz," or "The Big Fitz") was an American Great Lakes freighter launched on June 8, 1958. Until 1971 she was the largest ship on the Great Lakes.[1] Although she had reported having some difficulties during a gale on Lake Superior, the Fitzgerald sank suddenly on November 10, 1975 in 530 feet (160 m) of water without sending any distress signals. The site of the loss is: 46°59.9′N 85°06.6′W / 46.9983°N 85.11°W / 46.9983; -85.11, in Canadian waters approximately 17 miles (15 nmi; 27 km) from the entrance to Whitefish Bay. All 29 hands in the crew perished, presumably by drowning. The incident is the most famous disaster in the history of Great Lakes shipping,[2] and is the subject of Gordon Lightfoot's hit song, "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald.

If you'd like a little more info on the Fitz, click here for the wiki page.

So put on some Gordon Lightfoot and pour one out for the crew of the Fitz.

Konichi-wa

Hi! Back from Tokyo. It was sooooo cool. Jason and I spent most of our time in Tokyo, only leaving the city to go to Mt. Fuji. A couple things I really loved about Japan. First, the people. They were very nice, respectful and genuine. People smiled at each other when they talked and no one we met (except some crazy Aussies) had a chip on their shoulders.

Second the food. OMG! Between the cold ramen noodles (not the kind of ramen noodles you are thinking of) to the uber fresh sushi to the super deep fried tempura the food was fab. J and I did a couple of nice dinners, but we also ate at little restaurants that were located underneath the railroad bridge.

Of course, photos are worth a thousand words and can probably tell better stories of where we went than I can. Here is a link to our "photo" page. Check it out.

Mr. Roboto

Hi All. I have a fun announcement! J and I are going to Tokyo, Japan! J has to travel to Singapore for work on his way home he has a layover in Tokyo so I will be meeting him there at the back end of his work trip. So far we are planning on going to go to Mount Fuji but beyond that we don't have any plans. Hopefully we don't get too lost over there and I don't make to big of a fool of us.

Welcome Bella

Say hello to my new neice. Bella Grace Capra. She was born October 5, 2009. She is a bit quite for a Capra but I have a feeling that won't last long!

Can we just talk about this for a minute?

I don't get it. It doesn't bother me that much, but I just don't get it. It happened to me again today. I was driving home from work and I see this guy flying up on my tail. It's rush hour. There's a guy in front of me and a guy in front of him. Cars to the side, etc- you get the idea. This guy rides my tail for ten seconds then, without a blinker of course swerves into the other lane, puts the pedal to the medal and cuts me off.

Now, if you've ever driven with me, you know that I like my horn. It's there for a reason. So I honk at this guy as if to say, "hey douche there's a car in front of me and it's rush hour, your not going anywhere." And guess what he does, just guess? He give me the finger. He cuts me off then gives me the finger for honking at him! I don't get it? I just don't get it.

To make matters a little better, and I know this is TOTALLY vain and shallow but that's just who I am, I can usually tell when this is going to happen and as these crazies are passing by me, they are usually trashy looking people or moms/dads in minivans or some middle aged guy with, "something to prove man." So as they drive by, I look over at them and pity them because they most likely lead a crappy life. And that makes me feel better when they give me the bird. Things could be worst than being cut off, I could be the person who cut me off- a trashy middle aged minivan driving mom or dad with something to prove and I feel much better.
